Summary

Sermon Summary: Today, we look at chapter 4 or the Book of Ruth. Through a transaction at the city gate, Boaz became the kinsman-redeemer for Naomi and Ruth. “Redemption” means deliverance through a price. Thus, a “redeemer” pays the price to deliver someone from a difficult and/or dangerous situation. Boaz paid that price to redeem Naomi and Ruth. Boaz the redeemer points us to the ultimate redeemer, Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the ultimate price, with his life and blood, to free us from the consequences of our sins. From Ruth chapter 4, we see three truths about redemption…

  1. To be redeemed, we must realize our extreme need.
  2. Redemption requires a redeemer.
  3. Redemption leads to rejoicing.
